Things To Do:

 

  • Skiing and Snowboarding at Aspen Snowmass (https://www.aspensnowmass.com)

    • Aspen Mountains- Known as Ajax to the locals, this mountain brings you down into the base of town and is notorious for its off-piste and challenging terrain. This is not a mountain for beginners, there is no beginner terrain. 

    • Aspen Highlands- Sitting back off the main stretch of town you can catch a bus from anywhere in town and be dropped off right at the base of Aspen Highlands. Beware again as Aspen Highlands is for experienced skiers only, as there is no beginner terrain.

    • Buttermilk- Located directly next to Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk provides a wide variety of terrain. This includes the terrain parks that host the Winter X Games at the end of every January.

    • Snowmass- Located 7 miles from the town of Aspen, Snowmass has its own secluded village. This is the most family friendly ski area of the four due to the plethora of beginner terrain and on maintain eateries.

  • Maroon Bells Snowmobile tours- Take a three-hour snowmobile tour to the most picturesque mountains in the United States for plenty of breath catching photos.

  • Independence Pass- Rent car for the day and drive Colorado State Highway 82 between Leadville and Aspen. Independence Pass is located at an elevation 12,095 ft on the Continental Divide.

  • Ashcroft Ghost Town- This abandoned silver mining town ten miles south of aspen  has several historic buildings restored for touring. Skiing tours are available throughout the winter.

  • John Denver Sanctuary-This scenic, beauty, and environmental wetlands provides the perfect spot for a picnic or pictures.

  • Aspen Art Museum (https://www.aspenartmuseum.org)- a contemporary art museum located in the heart of Aspen.

  • Escobar Nightclub- unwind and let loose on the dance floor with DJs at this trendy nightclub.

  • Belly Up- Known for its live music, this small venue with two bars attracts big names all winter long.

 

Day trip from Aspen:

 

Take a day trip to Glenwood Springs. Located 2 hours from Aspen this resort town is famous for its hot springs that are open for swimming and soaking all year long.

 

Know before you go:

 

One of the best weeks to visit aspen is Aspen Gay Ski Week in the middle of January. While Aspen is always LGBTQ+ friendly, Gay Ski Week provides plenty of events that both visitors and locals turn out for.
